Footsteps Echo in the Halls of Time

Footsteps Echo in the Halls of Time

A Dharma talk by Dr. Larry Ward

Breathing in, I see all my ancestors in me. My mineral ancestors, plant ancestors, mammal ancestors and human ancestors. My ancestors are always present, alive in every cell of my body, and I play a part in their immortality.

— Thich Nhat Hanh

January 2023 marks one year since the passing of our beloved teacher, Thay, Thich Nhat Hanh. Around the world and all month long, Plum Village monasteries, sanghas, and other spiritual and religious communities, will hold events to commemorate his life and continuation.

At the Lotus Institute, we will celebrate Thay with this special dharma talk by Dr. Larry Ward on honoring our spiritual ancestors. The teachers that we’ve had the fortune to have met and practiced with can move clouds and show us new ways of seeing and looking at things. With their wisdom and guidance, they cultivate an energy of practice that awakens our hearts. How are we a continuation, beyond form, of Thich Nhat Hanh and our ancestors?
