Civic Dharma
The Virtues of a Compassionate Citizen
In this talk, Dr. Larry Ward will explore the Ten Dharma Virtues—also known as Dasa-rājādhamma—a timeless set of principles that can guide and inspire how we think, speak and act as caring citizens. These virtues, such as generosity, moral character, and self-control, can offer us an embodied foundation for ethical and compassionate governance.
Questions we’ll explore: What does it mean to bring the principles of Dharma into the heart of public life? How might we reimagine our personal and collective responsibilities—toward ourselves, our communities, and the Earth—as expressions of spiritual and civic integrity?
In this 90-minute practice, we’ll enjoy a guided meditation from Peggy Rowe Ward, poetry and the dharma talk form Larry, and open space for your questions or sharings.
